Unidos por Cristo is an independent, non-governmental social development foundation that works for the benefit of children and adolescents in Paraguay, operating in areas where its mission can contribute to development. We work according to the spirit of our vision, mission, and values, and our quality standards, which include the rights of every child and adolescent, such as the right to live, grow, and feel at home within a family environment that provides them with health, education, recreation, and protection. However, due to various factors, it is often impossible for them to remain with their families of origin, leaving them in a situation of risk, vulnerability, and in danger of not being able to exercise their rights. In order to provide security and better support to adolescents and young people who transition to the "Elective Subjects Curriculum for Secondary Level. Educational Units for Biointensive Agricultural and Gastronomic Production," a series of minimum criteria are established that aim to guarantee their stable development and promote their empowerment and transition to independence as future professionals. We promote access to quality education, early sexual and reproductive health, vocational training, and access to decent employment, among other things. Therefore, we decided to develop an elective curriculum for secondary school students in the Biointensive Agricultural and Gastronomic Production units at the Unidos por Cristo School. This curriculum recognizes the holistic development of adolescents and young adults based on their rights and their social and community inclusion. This means supporting educational inclusion and retention, establishing partnerships to improve their social and professional integration, providing vocational guidance, developing technological and/or physical skills, fostering job search and entrepreneurship skills, offering financial literacy training for self-sufficiency, and ultimately, developing life skills that promote their comprehensive development within society.
